Open to all PCYC Racers and guests, at the next J24 pub night (Thurs March 30th) we're planning a "Pre-Season Tune Up Session" with Rossi Milev & Mark (Hollywood) Goodyear, both of whom are fresh off an outstanding performance at the J24 Midwinter races at Davis Island YC in Tampa. We would like to open an invitation to the rest of the fleet to come and listen to Rossi & Mark. The talk should last about an hour starting at 8pm and they'll touch on:
It's going to be pretty informal and I know Rossi likes lots of interaction and questions from the crowd, so the more the merrier. The rig & boat set up are going to be fairly J24 specific, but his insights about crew work and working the shifts can be applied to any boat. Rossi & Hollywood really did well in Tampa. There were 39 boats in the race and they came 3rd! Way to go!!!! Important Launch Notice!! Launch has been delayed by one full week for all boats currently booked from March 27th to April 14th to allow extra commissioning time due to cold weather. Boaters who are ready and reasonably accessible can still be launched at their request from March 29th to 31st. Please contact the Harbourmaster Peter Hagar at 905-278-7911 ext 245 or harbourmaster@pcyc.net if you wish to launch as originally scheduled. Please check the launch schedule on the PCYC website www.pcyc.net for the new schedule. As we all know, there are some wonderful people in our Club who volunteer incredible amounts of their time for the benefit of us all. In some cases individual commitments are protracted over long periods and in others it involves a shorter period on a specific project. Others choose to make financial contributions in order to enhance numerous aspects of the Club. Typically these individuals do not look for recognition and, unfortunately, we do not always find the time to recognize their efforts or to simply say thank you on behalf of the entire membership. With this in mind, our Commodore has decided that we should start a new and exciting tradition at the annual Commodore’s Ball (Sat May 6th) and take that opportunity to thank and recognize the team or individual who has made an outstanding contribution and should be publicly recognized and thanked. The top candidates will be asked to attend the Ball in order to be formally recognized and the winner will be presented with an appropriate plaque and gift. The Guidelines around this Award will be as follows:
We encourage everyone to make a nomination and to come along to the Commodore’s Ball on May 6, 2006 to hear the results and celebrate with all the final nominees. John Grainger Vice Commodore
