Steve Montague grew up in Barbados. While going to school, he worked as a grocery packer, and got involved with swimming and martial arts. In 1973, Steve applied to a culinary school. Out of 73 students who graduated, Steve finished 4th.
After finishing school, Steve moved to Liverpool, England where he worked for Trust House Fort, a company comprised of 2000 hotels and restaurants worldwide. He began as a Cold Chef, then moved up to Saucier, then to Pantry Chef.
Steve later moved to Greece, where he was employed by the Mumieditus Company, which gave him the opportunity to work in several other countries including Jamaica, Aruba, Columbia, and the United States. He then returned to his home country of Barbados. In Barbados, he took a position as a butler working for Paul McCartney and Michael Cane. Subsequently, he went to work for the Marriott’s hotel. While working at the hotel, he was offered a position as butler for Rudy Sagel, which brought him to Canada.
In Canada, Steve has worked for The AuBerge, The Bitove Corporation, Town and Country Buffet restaurants and the Best Western Hotel. Steve was also responsible for opening several small restaurants; The Naked Turtle, Peppermint Twist and several others.
Steve has been the Executive Chef of Port Credit Yacht Club since February 2002.
