Friday August 10th , 2007 - Regatta

Lot’s of Fun… No Stress….. Lunches… Dinner…T Shirts… Nice Prizes… Trophy

The second ‘It’s not Easy Being Green Regatta’ takes place on Friday, August 10th, 2007 at Port Credit Yacht Club. This regatta is for Green level Optimist dinghies and Vanguard prams. The idea is to provide a regatta for beginning sailors to give them an opportunity to try racing with other sailors at the same level. A beautiful trophy and plaques have been generously donated by the Radonic family, members of PCYC. There will be awards for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for both boys and girls in Optimist and Vanguard pram classes, a total of 12 awards. Winners will also receive PCYC racing flags.

We have added a second day to the regatta on Thursday August 9th ,2007. This is a racing clinic for sailors and coaches. This will give these new racers an excellent lead in day to the regatta on Friday. The clinic will be conducted by Ashley Lethbridge, an experienced optimist racing coach from the Buffalo Canoe Club.

We have planned a fun day with T-shirts, boat stickers, lots of draw prizes, and terrific barbeque lunches at PCYC and a dinner Thursday. The Chief Racing Officer will talk to the kids before the race and there will be a debrief at the end of the day. There will be as many races as time and wind will allow so that that the kids get lots of experience.

There will be no protests from sailors, but the CRO can protest a competitor. A specific code of sailing etiquette will be explained by the CRO.

The cost is $60.00 with a $5.00 discount ($55.00) for registrations for both days (Clinic and Regatta) and $35.00 for the regatta only if registration is submitted and paid for before August 1st. Registration forms can be mailed or faxed to the club.

If you have any questions, please contact Ethel Thayer at 905-630-6030 or the Communications Centre at PCYC.

Come with your kids and have a great day at PCYC.
